Dawn of Damnation - DKP Policy

OVERVIEW

DoD uses a modified Zero Sum – Fixed Price DKP system in our raids. DKP (Dragon Kill Points) will be awarded to each individual partaking in a 25-man raid boss kill. The amount of DKP awarded per boss kill is fixed and diminishes as new content is released. Progression kills earns participating members an additional 1 DKP.

Originally, this was largely developed by using Blizzard’s Arena point system as a guideline. For slot coefficients where Arena items are not available, we extrapolated our coefficients based on other blizzard ratios (such as tier gear costs). As we progressed, the scales have been tuned to ensure a balanced method of distributing DKP and providing a fair loot distribution system for our members.

BIDDING PROCESS

The Master Looter will link an item to raid chat and ask for bids. The process that interested members should follow is to whisper the Master Looter with the link to the item they are interested in followed by either "Main Spec" or "Off Spec". If there are Main Spec members interested, the person with the highest DKP will be awarded the item and the DKP cost deducted from their total. If no Main Spec members are interested, it becomes open to Off Spec - the Master Looter will then ask all interested Off Spec members to /roll with the highest roll winning. If an Off Spec member has already received Off Spec loot earlier in the raid and other Off Spec members which have not will receive priority.

There is no DKP cost to purchase items for your Off Spec, however, if you receive an item for your Off Spec, you are required to donate 100g to the guild bank within 24h. If you "forget" to deposit the funds into the guild bank (yes, we will be checking) you will no longer be eligible for future Off Spec loot.

BIDDING PROCESS (FOR INITIATES)

New members will be ineligible to bid on loot during their initial two raid lockout periods with DoD. DKP will be earned and accrue normally per boss kill. If an item would normally go to rot (i.e. disenchanted) then Initiates will be given the option to bid and purchase the item for normal DKP costs.

FORMULA

Below is an explanation of the formula we use to come up with the item prices. The base cost for an item of Tier I items is 15 DKP (currently Ulduar25) and the base cost for Tier II items is 18.5 (currently ToC25).

The Slot Coefficient will be determined by the 'slot' the item fits into, as follows:

NOTES

Ranged (Hunters) – That covers Guns, Crossbows, and Bows. This higher coefficient for these items makes Hunters pay for what matters to them and as such hunters receive priority on these items to avoid DPS melee classes poaching for minor buffs.

Ranged – Everything not covered above: Librams, Relics, Totems, Wands, & Thrown Weapons

Weapons - 2H (Hunters) – Since Hunters use 2H weapons main to buff statistics, this category is the counterpart to Ranged (Hunters) whereby the Hunter pays less for this slot item but DPS melee classes receive priority on these items.

Weapons - 2H – Refers to Two-Handed weapons.

Weapons - 1H – Refers to One-Hand or Main Hand weapons.

Offhand – Any item explicitly designated as an offhand except for a Shield - these typically have larger bonuses and are more coveted, thus the higher cost.

DKP DECAY

A DKP Decay system has been implemented to reward players who continually give their time to us, as opposed to letting those who take extended breaks swoop in and receive priority on loot. This means that if you do not maintain minimum attendance during three (3) raid lockout periods, your DKP will begin to diminish by 6 DKP per lockout period.

The amount of DKP Decay was determined by taking fifteen percent (15%) of the approximate summation of all DKP awarded per raid member for ToC25 and Ulduar25 raids. The derived formula is detailed below:

In addition to the DKP Decay, members returning to raid status must wait one full lockout period before being able to spend DKP on item purchases (DKP is still earned normally per boss kill).

ADDITIONAL RULES

Progression Kill DKP Bonus - Each player who is in attendence for a progression raid kill will be awarded an additional 1 DKP for that boss.

Alts – As a general rule, Alts do not participate in current guild progression content unless dire circumstances require a Raid Leader to specifically request a member to raid on their Alt (i.e. shortage of tanks/healers online). Under those limited circumstances, that member will be eligible to receive gear for their Alt using the same rule set as for Off Spec.
